CDU Party Congress 2021

On 15 and 16 January 2021, the 1,001 delegates gathered for the CDU’s federal party conference, meeting digitally for the first time. Only the three candidates for the party leadership and the CDU Executive Committee met in person at HUB 27 at Messe Berlin. A semi-circular LED screen provided the perfect backdrop for the live broadcast.

We at G+B were once again on hand as technical service providers, as in previous years, and impressed with a flawless digital platform and brilliant video and studio technology. Our G+B Streaming Portal served as the digital plenary hall, where all delegates met to discuss matters and take part in the elections.

Speaking of elections:
Acclamations refer to all votes that do not involve the election of individuals, such as approvals of agenda items and motions, accountability reports, the discharge of the Federal Executive Committee, etc. These votes were broadcast via the G+B Streaming Portal.

The election of individuals was conducted in a separate digital voting booth via a certified partner. The results were available in the Digital Plenary Hall within seconds.

This 33rd Party Conference also did away with paper entirely – all documents were available for viewing and downloading in digital form on the G+B Streaming Portal.
