GAHRENS + BATTERMANN digitizes the CDU party conference 2019

On the weekend of 22 and 23 November, the delegates of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany met in Leipzig for the 32nd federal party conference of the CDU. For the first time, the party relied on a digital voting process and relied on the software solution from G+B Interactive®. In selecting the technical service provider for video technology, the CDU once again opted for the national event service provider GAHRENS + BATTERMANN, which has been accompanying the CDU party conference for many years.

The well-rehearsed G+B team realized the technical planning, implementation and support of the video and direction technology at the 32nd CDU party conference in Leipzig. As a media-technical highlight, the event experts installed a 115 m² LED wall, which extended over the entire stage with 34 meters. Two 7.5 m x 4 m LED walls were installed at the sides. A total of seven cameras captured the action on both days of the event. The moving images were transmitted by the G+B team in live video direction to the LED walls and numerous monitors of our partner NEC in the exhibition area. Further NEC displays and miles of cable rounded off the media technology performance of the G+B team.

Digitalized coordination process saves resources and convinces

More than 1,000 iPads and a smooth voting process – that was the result of the first digital voting process at the CDU party conference 2019 with the software solution of G+B Interactive®.

GAHRENS + BATTERMANN has been offering digital event solutions since 2010 and has successfully implemented more than 3,000 events since then. Also at this year’s federal party conference of the CDU, the G+B team impressed the audience with the digital voting system, which significantly simplified the otherwise analogous voting process.

Using iPad, the delegates in Leipzig voted digitally and were very satisfied, as all elections went quickly and smoothly. Not only were the votes digitized, but the application book, as thick as a telephone book, was also dispensed with, as it was also digitally displayed and even updated live. More than 40 documents could thus be exchanged during live operation, for example when motions were reworded. The digital solution not only saved time, but also the need to print out the documents again, which saved a lot of paper. A real relief and a step towards a digital and sustainable future.

“We are proud to have taken the first step towards the digitalization of the party congress together with the CDU. The digital voting and speaking time saved more than an hour. In addition, content such as reworded amendments, resolutions and other documents could be updated live. The delegates were pleased with the up-to-date information, with less paper and therefore accepted the tablets extremely well. All in all, it was a successful project and a very good cooperation with the entire CDU team,” said Alexander Klein of G+B Interactive®.
